Alexandra Jänis joined the Ratz Lab in March 2024 for a research placement as a part of her MSc in Biomedicine at Karolinska Institutet. She is engaged in a project focusing on the spatiotemporal profiling of synaptic cell adhesion molecule expression in the developing mouse brain using RNA-Seq.
In the spring of 2023, Alexandra graduated with a BSc in Biomedicine from Karolinska Institutet after completing a degree project in neurodevelopment in the Thomas Theil Lab at the Center for Discovery Brain Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. Her project used a cortical organoid model to investigate the effects of ASD-associated mutations in ciliary genes on neuronal differentiation and morphology.
In her free time,
Alexandra is a frequent cinema-visitor, enjoys reading with a good cup of tea, tending to her plants, and volunteering in a variety of student organizations.
